OUR group classes are classes tailored to suit your needs and based on current evidence following the assessment by our experienced physiotherapistto help meet your needs and goals. Your exercise program will be designed by physiotherapists, making sure you get an evidence-based exercise program. Our clinicians who run the classes have a good understanding of the challenges and benefits of exercise and better living for all age groups, be it the young athlete or the young at heart.

What does current clinical evidence say about exercise?

HIP AND KNEE OSTEOARTHRITIS

The current national and international clinical guidelines recommend patient education, exercise and weight loss as first-line treatment for Osteoarthritis (OA) of the hips and knee.Research has shown great results in pain reduction and improved function in people completing strength programs like GLA:DR program in people participating insupervised group exercise sessions at least twice a week for at least 6 weeks1.

LOW BACK PAIN

The RACGP (Royal Australian College of General Practice) recommends exercise therapyas an effective intervention for the management of chronic low back pain (LBP). This may include strength, flexibility, aerobic and functional exercise programs supported by education and principles like goal setting2.

Exercise or PREHABILITATION before surgery

Understanding and improving your strength and control within your limits physical and pain limits, along with improving your activity and exercise tolerance prior to your surgery may have several benefits for you. It may help reduce you functional decline and get you back on your feet quicker1,3,4.

FAQs

  • We recommend an INITIAL APPOINTMENTto assess your suitability for exercise program including taking your history and conducting a few basic clinical and physical tests. Following this we will design an exercise program tailored to you and suggest our available group classes. Prior to joining the group classes, we recommend 2 to 4 one-on-one sessions with our physiotherapist to get you familiarised with the exercise, equipment and to assess how you tolerate the exercise intensity.
  • You also get to participate in two FREE education sessions which may give you further opportunities to ask question and learn more aboutconditions like low back pain andOA. These education sessions may range from education about what the conditions are, better dietary management, work ergonomics etc.

  • To begin we assess where you are at and try and pick specific exercises and exercise intensity based on your condition and tolerance. We may assess your strength, balance, flexibility and control. Based on this assessment, we will recommend a supervised class for you.
  • At Inspire Physio Care you start with Supervised sessions and as you meet your goals, you cangraduallyprogress to semi-supervised sessions. Our Physiotherapists will also support you with home exercisesand self-managementideas and strategies.

The classes will be run based on your PHYSIO-designed program and are run by a qualified clinician who is capable of modifying the program within the session if needed, like if you are in pain.

The group sessions are sessions 45-60 minutes depending on the type of class.

  • Supervised classes: We limit the number of people from 3 to 5 per clinician depending on the class so that you get sufficient attention from our trained clinician in every session.
  • Semi-supervised classes: The numbers in this class may vary from 5 to 12, as it is expected that you will have learnt from your supervised sessions and require lesser supervision.

Yes, you can attend as many classes as you want based on your assessment and needs. Make sure you discuss your needs with your physiotherapist.
